Two CKD members led a session to help fellow students become certified as kidney health educators through the American Kidney Fund. First, members presented background on the American Kidney Fund such as how it was founded and what services they currently provide. CKD members also provided a brief overview of chronic kidney disease before the students proceeded with the certification modules. CKD helped students register with the American Kidney Fund as well as answered questions they had while they completed the course.
Initiative members visited Omega house Friday, 11/10 where they were able to help out around the house by doing dishes and washing clothes. A local church group also brought food donations and students helped them move the bags of donations inside the house. Students also helped put the donations items into storage. There were two patients present on Friday. The HIV/AIDS initiatves were able to interact with them and see how their week was going as well as serve them dinner for the evening.
On Veterans Day, 11/11 UH SNPhA helped to organize and assist in moving the residents at Garden Terrace to the lobby for them to enjoy the musical show set up by the facility activities coordinators. UHSNPhA chairs also passed out gifts and awards for each of the veterans present at Garden Terrace.
