The Fighting Diabetes Initiative aims to advance public knowledge about pre-diabetes and diabetes through education, collaboration, and partnerships with local and national community organizations. Through increased awareness and promotion of preventive care, the initiative seeks to empower individuals to take control of their health and reduce the burden of diabetes in underserved communities.

albert nguyen
Hi everyone! My name is Albert Nguyen, and I am one of the Fighting Diabetes Co-Chairs. I decided to pursue pharmacy because pharmacists are often the most accessible healthcare providers, and they are able to give patients quick access to care they might not otherwise receive. I decided to join SNPhA to help bridge these gaps and directly give back to underserved communities. Outside of pharmacy school, I often enjoy playing tennis and watching anime.
Fun Fact: My mom is about 4'9'' tall, but I somehow made it to 6'.

Hello, my name is Omar Tabanjah a P2 student. My initial interest for pharmacy came when my mentor recommended me to merge my passion for chemistry with the healthcare field, then orgo further solidified my interest in the pharmaceutical field. I’m also devoted to helping the underserved manage their blood sugar, because I’ve unfortunately seen what happens to patients who don’t have the resources to adequately take care of their bodies, so I’m driven to help them as much as I can. My hobbies are making short films, hiking, drawing, playing video games, and watching movies!
Fun Fact: I love country music!
