Houston Ultimate Women's Show
Our SNPhA officers and members continuously work hard, even during the summer, to go out into the community and serve the underserved! After classes and finals, our Chronic Kidney Disease initiative was involved in coordinating health screenings and education at the Houston Ultimate Women’s Show. With the American Kidney Fund, they performed blood pressure screenings and explained results to the patients. They also had their trifold and explained how high blood pressure can affect the kidneys. Members were able to meet a few people who had poly-cystic kidney disease and were able to connect them with the American Kidney Fund for more help. They also counseled on ways to help patients remember taking their blood pressure medication(s) by getting a pill box or setting an alarm on their phone. Great job team!
